I bought 2012 Ford Focus SEL before three and half years and it drove me to the world of waxes and polishes. Let me admit, I am lazy and definitely not a fan of spending hours in cleaning or polishing the car but we need to look after it right….

I researched online and tried some waxes, wash and waxes, and polishes. Below is my journey of three and half years and encounters with different brands that I personally used on my Ford Focus SEL.

We are looking at two aspects at once. Cleaning and polishing are two different procedures and mixing them together is quite amazing. Therefore, I vote for wash and wax products especially the T-223 Super Hard Shell Paste Wax from Turtle Wax (click here to view on Amazon.com).

It has the goodness of carnauba wax and application is simple. Rigorous buffing is not at all necessary unless you allow it to sit on the surface for long time. Turtle Wax in addition, is a multipurpose product and its application does not limit only to cars. Go ahead, look at my experiences, and do share your opinion about the waxes and polishes.

Expertise since 1941 backs Turtle Wax T-223 Super Hard Shell Paste Wax and it really proves when it comes to keeping my ride sparkling for weeks.

In fact, my 2012 Ford Focus SEL stayed pristine for over three months with one application of T-223. However, the key to a great shine is you need to start buffing as soon as the wax starts to dry. Else, look for triple the efforts than the liquid wax if you allow it to settle for a happy long period.

My Impression:

Using Turtle Wax T-223 is easy only if you follow the rules of the games. Read the instructions carefully before you begin. I missed a couple of them and ended up in taking more trouble. Besides, T-223 is great, economical, and lasts really long. It works as promised in case you do not miss the instructions. If it fails, you missed instructions.

What could be better?

In my opinion, Turtle Wax must come with easy application method. It is a tough call in case it settles on the surface for longer period.

Impressive surface finish, UV protection, and of course multiple applications make Turtle Wax a perfect buy. I have tried it on the kitchen sink and countertop to keep them clean and sparkling. In fact, rubbing the kitchen sink reduces substantially with a coat of Turtle Wax.

Being skeptical about another spray wax, I decided to try CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant. 18 ounce spray is available for about $20 and 128 ounce spray is available for about $50. I decided to go for a smaller one to start with. It comes with microfiber cloth making it a compact kit. 

CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant is a synthetic polymer sealant. It provides UV protection to the surface. In fact, it is suitable for many other surfaces like fiberglass, plastic, interior or exterior paint, shower doors, sink fixtures, or stainless steel appliances. CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant is available in 18 and 128 ounce spray for easy application.

It comes with microfiber cloth. Therefore, buying extra cloth is not necessary. It protects the surface from UV rays and works as a perfect paint sealant. Overall, CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant is suitable for me when I am looking at quick detailing at lesser efforts for lasting shine, UV protection, and sealing.

My Impression:

CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant is quick to use and detailing a car is possible within about 15 minutes. It stands out if applied after a car wash. Its synthetic polymer composition is an ideal paint sealant. I used it on kitchen chrome fixtures. The sparkle lasts for months. Certainly, CarGuys Hybrid Wax Sealant works as advertised.

What could be better?

Do not detail entire car at once. Start with a small section, complete, and move on to the next one.

What could be better?

FW1 should come with microfiber cloth making it a perfect car maintenance kit. Car wash is highly recommended although not necessary before applying FW1.

Easy to use and stays longer on the surface. About six months ago, I applied FW1 on dizzy headlight covers and both are shinning as new as of now.

Meguiar’s G18220 Ultimate Liquid Wax (20.oz)

Meguiar’s G18220 Ultimate Liquid Wax is synthetic compound for cars and other surfaces. It boasts the integration of advanced synthetic polymers crosslink and Hydrophobic Polymer technology for improved performance. In fact, I was amazed to see the water rolling right off the paint after applying G18220. 

Its manufacturer claims that Hydrophobic Polymer technology improves the surface tension and thus results in protecting the paint. In fact, in my opinion it works as said. Amazon offers two variants of G18220 in 16 or 20 oz. Further, G18220 is suitable for manual or variable speed polishers.

My Impression:

It took about 30 minutes to complete detailing. Applying the liquid wax is easy. However, Meguiars do not offer this product with spray. Therefore, I had to pour small quantities many times on the microfiber pad and repeat, repeat, and repeat. Shine lasts adequately for months. However, using this liquid wax along with Meguiars other three step paint treatment products proves to deliver lasting sparkle. Meguiar’s G18220 Ultimate Liquid Wax is available in 16 or 20 oz. bottles. It is a combination of liquid wax and paint protector. G18220 is safe for clear coats as well as glossy paint. It comes with easy to pour applicator for manual application of liquid wax.

What could be better?

Meguiar’s G18220 Ultimate Liquid Wax is not suitable for satin, matte, or flat finishes. I feel a spray bottle could make applying the liquid wax more effective and rather easy.

More features

G18220 is easy to apply and remove. It will not leave white stains on non-painted trims. Ideally, I feel G18220 is suitable for individual use as well as commercial detailing.

Chemical Guys EcoSmart-RU Ready to Use Waterless Car Wash & Wax

Chemical Guys WAC_707RU is a combination of wash, wax, and protection based on EcoSmart-RU technology packed in a refillable spray bottle. Further, this car wash and wax is suitable for using on windows and wheels in addition to paint. Ideally, it delivered swirl-free and scratch-free shine just the way I required for my 2012 Ford Focus SEL. It is my pride ride after detailing with Chemical Guys WAC_707RU. 

In fact, 16 fl. Oz bottle for about $12 is a deal I cannot miss. I found three options for buying Chemical Guys WAC_707RU online. It is available in 4, 16, or 128 fl. Oz. packing. Obviously 128 16 fl. Oz or 1 gallon packing is not available in spray bottle. I had to invest in a spray bottle. It means I can buy a pack of a gallon and use as and when I need. However, the cheaper price of a gallon has room for buying the bottle without additional burden.

My Impression:

Chemical Guys WAC_707RU is ideal for me or anyone who wants to save from hassles of wasting time or water. This wash and wax serves both purposes. Spray and wipe is all you need. For me, the simplicity is amazing and results are awesome. Best part about Chemical Guys WAC_707RU is portability. Eliminating the need for water makes it ideal for me wherever I go.

What could be better?

Chemical Guys WAC_707RU should come with microfiber towels, as I required three towels during the first detailing. Of course, I dropped one towel and could not use it due to dirt captured from the ground.

It is water-based and free from ammonia or alcohol. This wash and wax is suitable for cars, RVs, or boats. It is safe for using on surfaces like paint, plastic, glass, gel coat, chrome, leather, or vinyl.

What could be better?

I missed the point that it should not dry on its own. It required more efforts to remove and buff. You must work on one section of the vehicle at once. Never spray complete car, then wipe, and buff. You will end up in working more than actually required.

However, for me, sheen retained for about two weeks. Well, that’s two weeks of freedom from cleaning the car. Make sure to work under shed in case you are planning to detail entire car at once. Amazon offers TriNova Waterless Car Wash and Wax Kit of 16 fl. Oz. or 480 ml packing for about $25 ready for 40 washes. Water is not necessary for cleaning when using car wash and wax kit. Amazon further offers few special offers and promotions on TriNova.

What could be better?

The shine remains for about a week or two although, TriNova Waterless Car Wash and Wax Kit is easy to use. Never work on entire car under the sun. However, you can complete small section and move on to the next one.

More features

This simple to use wash and wax is handy, portable, and truly a savior when you require a quick clean up. I used it once on my 2012 Ford Focus SEL outside Subway.

My Impression:

I required about forty minutes completing my car. However, results are satisfying and definitely, worth the money I paid. Spray bottle makes applying the wash and wax easy even in tough to reach areas. Waterless cleaning is my forte and Mothers 05644 has a prominent role in it

What could be better?

Mothers 05644 is suitable only for exterior. Do not use it on interior.

In addition, heavy buffing is not necessary. Manufacturer of Nu Finish Liquid Car Polish claims it to be once a year polish. 

However, I am surprised to learn that Nu Finish Liquid Car Polish is only available on Amazon in add-on program. It means that I need to make a qualifying purchase of over $25 to buy Nu Finish. Nu Finish Liquid Car Polish is available in liquid and pate form. Further, it comprises cross-linking zinc-polymer-emulsions unlike other carnauba waxes. Ideally, Nu Finish is suitable for exterior detailing as well as household appliances.

My Impression:

Using Nu Finish Liquid Car Polish is simpler than many other waxes I have used. It delivers outstanding sheen although it is available in lower price band. Further, it does not require rigorous buffing and removal is comparatively easy.

What could be better?

Applying more Nu Finish on a surface makes removal a daunting task. Make sure to allow it to sit for about 30 seconds to one minute and start removal without further delay. You may need to buy it on Amazon in add-on program.
